BIO-CAT’s R&D Capabilities were expanded by adding water activity meters in both the Troy, VA and Shakopee, MN R&D labs.
Water Activity meters are used to expand testing beyond moisture content. Both moisture content and water activity are important measurements done to ensure quality and safety. Moisture content is the amount of free and bound water in the product whereas water activity is only the amount of free water present. The amount of free water present in a product is important since only free water is available for microbial growth.
